Sariel
Chief of tens1 Enoch 8
Chief of the course of the moon
Nineteenth chief of tens. 1 Enoch 8:3 gives him the course of the moon. The Astronomical Book then spends long, dry, holy pages on the moon’s insubordination to the sun. Sariel’s gift is to prefer that insubordination: a human calendar of nights, pregnancies, and seas.
Also named Sarel, Suriel, Sahariel, Arazyal in some lists.
