Teachings/1 Enoch 8:1; 69:6
Swords, breastplates, and the blows of death
How killing became a craft
Asael teaches swords, knives, shields, and breastplates. Gadreel, in chapter 69, teaches the blows of death, and in some recensions leads Eve astray. Distance-killing (the sling) completes the system.
What was given away
- Bladed weapons and their names
- Armor that makes a body a fortress
- The blow that kills, as a repeatable method
- Missile weapons: killing without embracing
Why the book calls it forbidden
Violence predates the Watchers in some biblical frames (Cain). What is forbidden here is the professionalization of death: war as an exported heavenly competence.
What became of it
1 Enoch 8:1–2 says the world was changed. The giants devour. Men cry out. The cry reaches heaven. Weapons are the mechanism of that cry.
